What are you planning this weekend? Celebrating Halloween with friends? Throwing a party at home? Cooking porridge for your ancestors? Lighting red candles for the spirits of your family and placing them in your windows?
Or will you be having fun on Dia de Los Muertos, re-watching the cartoon “The Secret of Coco”? There are so many options for celebrating, it’s not always clear what to choose from. In such cases, always start with tea.
Glint tea
- 500 ml boiling water
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 tsp hibiscus
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a pinch of cloves
- a pinch of nutmeg
Bring the water to a boil, pour the mixture and let it brew for 15 minutes.
Remembering loved ones
A warming and soothing tea for those who have seen off a loved one to the other side this year.
- 500 ml boiling water
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp currant leaves
- 1 tsp rosemary
- a pinch of nutmeg
- a pinch of pepper
Bring the water to a boil, pour the mixture over and let it brew for 15 minutes.
Remembering ancestors
Now something strange will happen: this tea is good to combine with fumigation with thyme. Crush the dried one and sprinkle it on smoldering coal, for example, a hookah.
Thyme smoke contains substances that, when in contact with the skin, cause a specific reaction: we feel an embracing warmth.
- 500 ml boiling water
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp rosemary
- 1 tsp lavender
- a pinch of allspice
Witch’s potion
For a costume party, the potion can be decorated: make jelly eyes in semi-circular ice molds and throw them into a glass with tea.
How to make those jelly eyes:
- Brew strong coffee.
- Mix with gelatin (multiply the dosage on the pack by 1.5).
- Once cool, pour into the bottoms of a round ice mold. Put in the refrigerator to harden.
- Heat the milk, add sugar.
- Also mix with gelatin (multiply the dosage on the pack by 1.5).
- Cool to room temperature and keep in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
- Pour into ice cube trays and set aside to harden completely.
You’ll get gelatinous whites of the eyes with a caffeine pupil in the middle.
In general, the secret is simple. Here, herbs preserve youth. And it’s also red.
- 500 ml of water
- 2 tsp of hibiscus
- 1 tsp of rooibos
- 1 tsp of lemon balm
- a generous pinch of cinnamon
Bring the water to a boil, pour the mixture over and let it brew for 15 minutes.
I ignore this holiday
Just tea for those who are alien to the devil’s holiday and find it terrifying.
- 500 ml of boiling water
- 250 ml of milk
- 2 tsp. strongly fermented Ivan-tea
- a pinch of cardamom
- a pinch of cinnamon
- a pinch of nutmeg
- a pinch of cloves
Boil the water, add spices and tea and leave for 10 minutes.
Heat the milk.
Add to the tea. Add honey to taste. Stir, strain, drink while doing your own thing.
